We Wants It, We Needs It. Andy Serkis Will Direct Venom 2!
Hello nerds!
A while back it was announced Venom 2 would be officially happening, and since then we’ve been waiting on pins and needles for any information about it. Thankfully, the second outing for everyone’s favorite alien-symbiote covered anti-hero has found its director. And while it’s an unexpected name, it is one that’s damn intriguing.
Venom 2 will be directed by none other than MOCAP extraordinaire, Andy Serkis. This movie makes the third feature film the vastly underrated actor will direct. The director of the first Venom, Ruben Fleischer, is still working on the upcoming Zombieland 2. Oddly enough, one of the stars of Fleischer’s latest movie is also the big bad of Venom 2, Woody Harrelson as Carnage.
Venom 2 will likely be one of Sony’s biggest movies of 2020, alongside Jared Leto's Morbius. And given the boatload of money the first one hauled in, Serkis must have really impressed the brass at Sony to nail the gig. So, consider my curiosity piqued.
Serkis himself took to Twitter to confirm the news, and he seems a bit excited for the film.
Tom Hardy will be back as Eddie Brock/Venom, Michelle Williams is set to return as Anne Weying, and the aforementioned Woody Harrelson will be back as the maniacal serial killer turned symbiote-host, Cletus Kasady aka Carnage.
Venom 2 swings their way into theaters on October 2, 2020
