And Now The Waiting Game. The Justice League Controls The Fate Of Flashpoint
Hello nerds!
If like me, you've been eagerly awaiting news of the forthcoming WB/DC's Flashpoint, then I've got some potentially bad news for you. Or good news. It all really depends on the success of failure of the Justice League.
While on the Meet The Movie Press podcast, Variety reporter Justin Kroll revealed Warner Bros. has pumped the brakes on finding a director for Flashpoint, because they want to see what the response to Justice League is first. Well, let's hope that it's a good response. Right?
While the Justice League is still embargoed, some early reactions on Twitter point to the film being a bit of a mess, and that while Steppenwolf is a weak villain, the main members of the League are fun to watch. So, taking all of that into account and this whole situation seems like a big fuckning mess. If it fails critically, like every film other than Wonder Woman has, do they make Flashpoint? What about the box office? If JL is crap, but makes a ton of dough do we get Flashpoint? I mean, Suicide Squad was a complete disaster, but it was a financial "hit". And that means they're farting out Squad 2 (which is it's own hatful of assholes).
Nobody over at WB/DC have a clue as to how to fix the colossal fuck up the vast majority the films of the DC universe have been, and the only oncoming glimmer of hope for try and fix it is the "reset" button that is Flashpoint.
Flashpoint can introduce different versions of characters, who can be played by people who are a bit better suited for them. I still maintain that Flashpoint will be how they shuffle Batfleck out of the universe and introduce a younger, more likeable version of the Dark Knight.
All in all, we're only a few days away from the Justice League hitting theaters and that's when the "fun" begins.
