It Couldn't Possibly End Terribly, Twice. Here's A Teaser For Dexter Season 9
Hello nerds!
If series finales have taught us anything, it’s that endings are hard. Game Of Thrones and Supernatural leap to mind as more recent examples. Well, a few years ago, the Showtime series Dexter was arguably the king of bad ending mountain. Not to spoil it if you haven’t seen it, but damn. It’s awful.
For those unfamiliar, based on the books by Jeff Lindsey, and starring Michael C. Hall, Dexter is about Dexter Morgan. A mild-mannered blood spatter specialist for the police by day, and an exceedingly regimented and vicious serial killer by night. But, thanks to a code instilled in him by his adopted father, a former cop, Dexter aims his murderous intents at criminals who get away with their crimes.
The first 4 seasons of Dexter are widely regarded as being pretty damn good, which makes how bad the series finale was all the more frustrating. Well, Showtime heard the complaints over the years, and they decided to try and fix their mistakes by making a new season to give fans a proper ending. And to ensure that happens, showrunner Clyde Phillips is back, after leaving at the end of Season 4, and he assures fans the show will be getting back to its darker roots.
As for the teaser itself, we see things will pick up quite a while after the original finale that saw Dexter fake his own death in a hurricane and end up as a lumberjack in Oregon. This time around, we find Dexter in upstate New York living under a new identity as Jim Lindsay, Sales Associate at Fred’s Fish and Game. And from the looks of it, Jim is being tempted to return to his old ways.
Starring Michael C. Hall, Jamie Chung, Julia Jones, Johnny Sequoyah, Alano Miller, Oscar Wahlberg, Jack Alcott, and Clancy Brown, the 10-episode limited series premieres this Fall on Showtime.
