Luke Cage Might Need Some Help. The Official Trailer For Season 2 Is Here!

Hello nerds!

If the trailer for the second season of Marvel's Luke Cage makes anything clear it's that Mariah Dillard is done fucking around. Like, completely done and it seems to have upset some other parties who want to run things in Harlem. Luke's going to have his hands full, but word has it with Danny Rand watching over Hell's Kitchen for Daredevil, the "Heroes for Hire" team up we've been waiting for will be happening. Very soon.

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Fantastic! I think we can expect some serious shit coming Harlem's way when Bushmaster goes to war with Mariah. As out gunned as she might be, her relying on Harlem's Hero to keep her alive is a stroke of genius. Of course Luke will have to save her to save Harlem because that's what heroes do. Which in and of itself is a monumental challenge, as the latest villain in town is just as strong and indestructible as Luke is.

I can't wait to see it, and so in keeping with tradition, I will be doing my super-binge aka all bingeing all 13 episodes in one sitting (& live-Tweeting @ADAMSNERDS). No easy feat, but I like my chances especially considering this should be a very good season. Luke Cage's first season was a lot of fun to watch, but like all Marvel shows, has it's issues. For me, the issues with Luke's first season primarily occurred after they killed off Cornell Stokes aka Cottonmouth.

Arguably, Mariah Dillard, played by Alfre Woodard, had to kill Cottonmouth to progress her own evolution into a villain, but they really should've waited another season or two to do so. Mahershala Ali was equally charming as he was sinister in his portrayal of Cottonmouth. He was so captivating as a villain, you could easily find yourself rooting for him. That's some Loki/Ulysses Klaue level stuff and it dearly will be missed when we return to Harlem.

New episodes of Luke Cage will be available on June 22, 2018.
